Associations

All Souls Interfaith Gathering (ASIG) ~ The extraordinarily beautiful and acoustically vital facilities of the All Souls Interfaith Gathering Sanctuary were the perfect place for recording A Celtic Mass for Peace, Songs for the Earth. With sweeping views of the constantly changing moods of Lake Champlain against a backdrop of receding layers and folding shapes of the Adirondaks, the landscape where both words and music were written, there was a sense of completion and homecoming. It is an earth sanctuary that deeply echoes the mystical landscapes of Scotland and Ireland.

ASIG is a nondenominational community that welcomes everyone, a seeker's destination, a safe haven for exploring spiritual and human values with a commitment to express love toward all through lifting the spirit in music, inspirational words, community service and environmental stewardship.

Celtic Arts Alliance, LTD (CAAL) ~ The Celtic Arts Alliance was established in 2004 to promote the Celtic arts and Celtic Artists. CAAL's primary objective has been to grow appreciation and respect for Celtic music, dance, language, song, visual art, and spirit. It is CAAL's belief that growth of the Celtic Arts will be through the mainstream public and therefore should be appealing to the average person. Both traditional and progressive Celtic arts apply.

The CAAL provides four primary services: 1) promotion and awareness of Celtic instruction and performances, 2) organizing Celtic arts related instruction including 'Education Centers for the Celtic Arts', 3) organizing Celtic arts performances, and4) establishing a scholarship fund to allow students' access to Celtic arts instruction.

The founder of CAAL, Douglas Webster of Charlotte, Vermont, created the Gaelic College Foundation USA in partnership with the Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts in St. Ann's Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. CAAL also initiated and supported the partnership with Reverend Philip Newell to work with Sam Guarnaccia to create the Celtic Mass for Peace. In addition, Webster established a series of Celtic concerts including the Celtic Christmas series at Charlotte Congregational Church based on the Dumbarton 'Celtic Christmas' in Georgetown, Washington DC. Webster works with the Vermont Department of Education to develop "Industry and Education Centers of Excellence" and is the president of the National Association for Workforce Improvement, a national organization that supports teaching emerging technologies, learning relevance, contextual, and systemic change in education and training.

A portion of the proceeds from this recording will
be donated to support Peace initiatives such as
the National Peace Academy and the Vermont
Peace Academy.

The National Peace Academy ~ The premise for the National Peace Academy is to educate in the sense of the etymological root in the Latin, educere, meaning to lead or draw forth. The National Peace Academy will be an educational institution that in its design, policies, and structure "draws forth" principles and policies of peace. The National Peace Academy will embody the best of what is, and provide a structure and program that encourages innovation and creativity in theory, processes, and practice for peace and conflict resolution.

The development of the peace builder is the keystone of the National Peace Academy. The educational program will both develop the self and the understanding of the self's role and contribution in society through an interdisciplinary, academically rigorous program, graduating the next generation of peacebuilders who will bring their skills into the corporate, nonprofit, and government workplace.

In accomplishing this vision, the National Peace Academy will:

  • Create an interdisciplinary graduate program for the social and physical sciences, the natural and life sciences, the arts and humanities, and the professional fields of engineering, business, medicine, and law.
  • Provide a core competency in ethics and character education.
Research, develop, and offer peacebuilding policy and action options at the local, state, and federal levels for peaceful resolution of domestic and international tension and conflict.
  • Coordinate peace studies, research, and advocacy, including establishing a peace library.
  • Collaborate with war colleges and military service academies to peacefully address security issues and provide training and fieldwork in peace-making, keeping, and building.
  • Engage with the peace education field to develop peace education as integral to pre-school through graduate school.
  • It represents a partnership of business, civil society, and government. Peace is everybody's business, and all must work together toward a sustainable culture of peace.
